Green Camps2004-2010: Almost 1500 Armenian youth have attended Green Camps across Armenia. Waste Dumps5 urban and 429 rural waste dumps which fail to meet basic sanitation and hygiene requirements. 11 urban waste sites and 178 local sites which operate illegally. Around 36 million tons of waste is generated annually. (Source Forests Since 1993, over 100,000 hectares of Armenia‘s forests have been lost due to unregulated cutting. Only 8% of Armenia's land is now covered with forest. If the current rate of deforestation continues, Armenia will have no forests left by AgricultureEmployment in Armenia is heavily concentrated in agriculture. This sector is characterized by very low labor productivity, and significant year-to-year variations as a result of shifts in weather conditions. Green Tavush Enviro Education2004-2010: Green Tavush has provided 30 environmental education presentations to 30 schools throughout Tavush Marz. |
